After the Blackout is a digital, for-charity zine dedicated to musical theatre.
Q. WHAT IS After the Blackout?
After the Blackout is a SFW, charity zine dedicated to all our favorite musical theatre productions! This zine is digital.Q. WHAT MUSICALS ARE BEING COVERED? / WHAT ASPECTS OF MUSICAL THEATRE WILL BE COVERED?
There aren't any restrictions on which musicals will be featured, as we want to be inclusive to all international communities and hubs. After all, there is more to musical theatre than Broadway/NYC and the West End! As for aspects, we are open to all of them!To ensure that we have a broad & equal representation of shows, we will ask for several pitches upon application, and the mods will approve one for the zine.Q. WHAT CONTENT IS ALLOWED?
Any art or fiction that is canon compliant, canon divergent, or canon adjacent is allowed as long as it is rated PG-13 or lower. Angst, hurt/comfort, and canon-typical violence and injuries will be allowed, as long as they fit into the PG-13 rating.
If AI is used in any form for your piece, it will automatically be removed from the project.Q. WHAT CHARITY ARE YOU PLANNING TO SUPPORT?
Charity will be determined by suggestions in the interest check. The mods will research all options, and will allow contributors a vote. Please keep your eyes on our socials for the announcement!Q. WHAT ARE THE ZINE SPECS?
The zine will be digital! Further specs will be determined after the interest check and mod applications.Q. AS A CONTRIBUTOR, HOW WILL I BE COMPENSATED?
All contributors will receive a free PDF copy of the zine and all digital merch!Q. HOW DO I BUY THE ZINE?
The zine will be available for purchase through BigCartel or Itch.io!Q. CAN I POST WIPS OR PREVIEWS, OR STREAM WHILE I’M WORKING ON MY PIECE?
We respectfully ask that all previews and snippets of contributor work be kept a secret until we are ready to share previews. This means that you cannot work on your piece while streaming in any capacity. We want to save the surprise for the zine! Mods will also provide a preview template once we get closer to sharing previews.Q. CAN I POST AND/OR SELL MY FINISHED PIECE?
We ask that full, finished pieces not be posted until the conclusion of the zine, which would include posting on a shop. However, once all pre-orders, production, and potential leftover sales have concluded, contributors can do whatever they’d like with their piece!
